Multiple column forms should be wrapped in a table of class ux-tabl-form-multicol. This will automatically style the labels and inputs. For related information see the Input Tips and Message - Field Level patterns.

Use the tabindex attribute to make the tab order go top to bottom in a column and then to the next column from left to right.
